Creative Writing Courses co-hosted with the Summer Institute in the Faculty of Arts:

A. Creative Writing Workshops 1 & 2

  • Discover the imagination and passion for creative writing that can be kindled in young writers everywhere.
  • Limited class size to ensure maximum interaction and creativity.
  • Taught by poet, scholar, and HKU postgraduate student, Ms Cindy Hui.

Both Creative Writing Workshop 1 and Creative Writing Workshop 2 courses are suitable for all levels, including beginners.  Students who wish to continue in creative writing after completion of CWW1 (or other creative writing courses and workshops) may enroll in CWW2 for deeper involvement in creative writing exchanges.

Language of Instruction: English

Eligibility: Form 4-6 secondary school students

Workshop 1 - Period of Teaching:
July 22 & 29, 2014 - Tuesday: 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
July 24 & 31, 2014 - Thursday: 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Workshop 2 - Period of Teaching:
August 5 & 12, 2014 - Tuesday: 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
August 7 & 14, 2014 - Thursday: 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Programme Fee (per workshop): HKD2,500     Early bird (April 16, 2014)/Alumni: HKD2,300

B. Memoir Writing Workshop: Telling Your Own Story of Hong Kong

  • Gain an insight into creative nonfiction by writing your own memoir.
  • Learn to select, connect and share ideas in a creative way.
  • Taught by writer, performance artist and HKU MFA Creative Writing graduate,
    Mr. Wilson Chik.

Language of Instruction: English

Eligibility: Form 4-6 secondary school students

Period of Teaching:
July 23 & 30, 2014 / August 6, 2014 - Wednesday: 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
July 25, 2014  / August 1& 8, 2014 - Friday: 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
