"Misprisions of Utopia" reviews the comparative advantages
of recent criticism's commitment to allegory as a mode of reading
and a form of scholarly narrative. The paper weighs allegory's
relations to utopian and messianic thinking and argues that
there are important disadvantages to these continuing commitments."
