Creative Writing Forum

The Creative Writing Forum offers physical space, intellectual room, and several major programs for undergraduate and postgraduate writers. Students can convene and develop a body of work among fellow writers. The Writers' Series, The Drama Series, and Yuan Yang all host events in the Creative Writing Forum, including talks, readings, and editorial meetings. The Forum encourages interdisciplinary practice and, more plainly, good practices exchanged among fellow writers and artists. Undergraduate and postgraduate students in creative writing have joined their voices in the Writers' Gallery, Drama Bagatelles, and in multimedia events, for example, "Voices of Hong Kong Composers: Encounter of Word and Music” in February of 2008 and “New Violin Dimensions: A Multimedia Concert with Yao Jue” in April of 2009. As one graduate from the Creative Writing class wrote, “I have become a different person after learning to read others' [writing] and craft my own work, a better person!” Another graduate wrote: the study of creative writing “inspired me to do things" in writing that "I had never thought" possible. The Creative Writing Forum also supports Moving Poetry and the HKU Poetry Prize.
