Topics


Topics to be discussed will include: defining constructions, the constructicon, argument structure constructions, morphology and information packaging in a constructional perspective, the ontogenetic and phylogenetic development of constructicons, constructions in language processing, diachronic construction grammar.

This course will increase your awareness of the nature of grammar and how it develops and add to your knowledge of linguistic approaches to grammar.

There will be a three-hour combined lecture and interactive exercise session each week.

Assessment


Assessment for the course is 100% coursework. This is made up of an in-class test (50%), oral contributions in the exercise sessions (10%) and a report on a group research project (40%).
